OT:: Clay Aiken

OK, we all know that the boy has an incredible voice. Most of us think he should come to Broadway at some point instead of playing 'Idol'. Most of us felt that despite the cheesy, moronic, yet addictive nature of AI, Clay should have won over Ruben "I knocked my brother out over a sandwich" Studdard.

Nearly everyone thinks the boy couldn't be gayer if he was a twink drag queen in a purple Abercrombie spandex jumpsuit with pink feather boa and body glitter drinking cosmos and watching Queer As Folk with Ellen DeGen., Rosie O, Portia DeRossi, and Richard Chamberlain on the Veranda of Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan's Boyztown bungalow overlooking San Fransisco Bay at sunset during Pride Week while his leather-daddy boyfriend gives fashion tips to a flannel-clad Melissa Etheridge.

But to the few, OK, one person, out there who still thinks Clay-boy could be breeder material, just check out these photos. Isn't it great that American Idol was almost a twink who strikes poses for magazines covers in a way that makes the most feminine woman look like a man??

re: OT:: Clay Aiken

Actually, I like the cover of the mag a lot! I immediately went out and bought it b/c as Badseed can tell anyone here...I adore this kid. Why? I'm a sucker for a voice (usually a tenor!!!!!)

In the seventh pic (2nd from bottom) he looks very much like a Mark Cohen (from rent) -- the pose, the sweater....

Way to go Broadwayguy for perpetuating every gay stereotype.

WHO CARES IF HE IS GAY OR NOT. Maybe someday we will reach the day when no one will care who someone sleeps with.

Ok. I'm off my soap box.

American Idol 2 was a true case of someone being robbed.
Clay was the true winner. Just look at Clay and Rueben's cd single sales. It's no surprise that Clay is outselling Rueben, 4 to 1.

Clay was the better singer, the better over-all performer. Rueben, IMHO, should not have even been in the top three. Black, male R&B singers are a dime a dozen. Nothing really special about him. The only thing going for him was consistency but I'd rather hear a dynamic performer such as Clay with a few off pitch notes here and there, then a bland R&B singer.

My Top 3 Idols:

1-Clay
2-Kimberly Locke
3-Trenyce

THAT was the point. It was a joke. Gain a sense of humor.

"WHO CARES IF HE IS GAY OR NOT."
Frankly, I don't care. I was just running down a short list of people's thoughts about Clay.

re: re: re: re: re: OT:: Clay Aiken

I LOVE the "W.W.J.D.?" bracelet Clay's wearing on the cover of Rolling Stone. If he asks himself that question every step of his career -- What Would JLo Do? -- he won't make a single misstep. He's just Clay from the South, yo.

re: re: re: re: re: re: OT:: Clay Aiken

LOL! That would make him C.Ai. LOL.

He doesn't have the proper J.Lo 'junk in the trunk' though. If you want a male JLo ass, look at Todd mIchel Smith from Hairspray or to a lesser extent, Adam Fleming.

re: re: re: re: re: re: re: OT:: Clay Aiken

I think he's got a lot more going for him than a voice. He's charming with a lot of charisma, and pretty. Also, I'm a sucker for a guy with a southern accent. If I weren't his mother's age, I'd want to hang out with him really bad~

OMG! Simon from American Idol said he can see Clay on Broadway! He said in Phantom of the Opera to!! But I can't really see him in that.. maybe Raoul?

"Gain a sense of humor."

I have a sense of humor, thank you very much. I laugh uproariously at the gay jokes on "Will & Grace." I adore the "Golden Girls," even the episodes with the sterotypical gay jokes. I even laugh at myself.

Clay Aiken, however, is not a sitcom and I don't think it's funny to make jokes about his sexuality. Also, no one but Clay has the right to state he is gay or to even imply that he is gay.

I wonder how you would feel if someone referred to you as

"a twink drag queen in a purple Abercrombie spandex jumpsuit with pink feather boa and body glitter drinking cosmos and watching Queer As Folk with Ellen DeGen., Rosie O, Portia DeRossi, and Richard Chamberlain on the Veranda of Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan's Boyztown bungalow overlooking San Fransisco Bay at sunset during Pride Week while his leather-daddy boyfriend gives fashion tips to a flannel-clad Melissa Etheridge."

He DOES look like Mark!

He really does look like Mark from Rent. Wow- if he came to the show, it would do so great. And he would be so perfect. Please, Clay! Save Rent!

re: He DOES look like Mark!

Hey...wait a minute. Matt Caplan, who's playing Mark in Rent now, is one of the most talented actors to get on the stage of the Nederlander in these past seven years. And Rent's flush at the moment - it was an 86.4% attendance average, and it made a good chunk of change over its minimum. The show's not closing shop, and doesn't need saving.

Besides, Matt's already been bumped for a celebrity once (he was playing Mark when Joey Fatone was brought in). He's too good of an actor to be insulted like that twice.

re: re: He DOES look like Mark!

Obviously people aren't going to see Matt though! They're going to see Frenchie!
#16

re: re: re: He DOES look like Mark!

Yes, the bump happened when Frenchie joined the cast.
AND, Matt Caplan is leaving the show in December.
#17

re: re: re: He DOES look like Mark!

Just saying that Matt's doing a great job and that replacing him would be a disservice to a wonderful actor. Of course, Frenchie is drawing a good portion of the crowds, and deservedly so - her voice is solid gold.

If the producers got someone like Clay Aiken as Mark, I'd see the show and see how he did in it - but I don't like when very competent, contracted actors get brushed aside for stunt casting.

re: re: re: re: He DOES look like Mark!

I have heard rumors about Clay and Rent and none of them involve ditching Matt for Clay. I have heard that producers are interested in him replacing Matt when he leaves.

Anyway, it's called show BUSINESS. You do what you need to do to keep a show running.

Frenchie?

what's going on with frenchie in rent? where the hell have i been? slightly uncultured boi here needs the info! shouldn't she be in dreamgirls as effie?

and i think we should leave clay as just clay. he's himself and he's who he wants to be, wanting to make a difference in the world without anyone judging him or making assumptions about him.

and broadwayguy2 is right...it IS a business. not personal, business. (isn't that in dreamgirls somewhere?)

I can't wait to get Clay's new cd. He has such a great voice re:
I just hope he doesn't let fame go to his head too much.

fame to his head?

he won't let it get to his head. he's a genuine, real person with real hopes and dreams. he's not (for lack of a better word) cocky. i'm not saying the others are, but i'm saying HE isn't.

re: re:

Planning on getting his CD, Pre-ordered his single. i find it VERY VERY funny that Ruben won the title, but Clay is out selling him.. by a lot.

re: re: re:

I actually change the radio station when I hear Ruben. I really don't like his singing voice.

re:

And Ruben was on American Juniors last night and was literally having trouble singing. Mind you, I was having trouble watching the entire show. I should just stop now since I haven't seen any of the performances...but there was nothing else on last night!!!!! LOL!

Btw, I have Clay's singles cd and I love it!
