Ok,
Two friends of mine attended a a press screening for the much anticipated film return of Quentin Tarantino:
“KILL BILL”
Now, bear in mind, these are two gay men in their mid-thirties who loved “Chicago” last year and went to it 7 times and whose idea of an action movie is “Charlie’s Angels”
Are you getting the drift?
We’ll they left the “Kill Bill” screening raving on their cell phone:
“The Best Film in Five Years..”
“Magnificent.”
“..shows everyone how a film should be directed”
“..if Tarantino and Uma are ignored Oscar time, it would be a crime”
Just a heads up folks, this looks like a winner!
Sounds like even Dollypop may like this one!

Did they see the WHOLE film or only part one??? This drives me crazy that they chopped it up. Milk all the $$ you can out of your audience.
It reminds me of LORD OF THE RINGS PT. 1. People raving how it was the best film ever...I liked it, but it was still only one third of a film.

Posted: 10/1/03 at 5:24pmI have only seen "Pt.1", but it is in no way "half a story".....

Posted: 10/1/03 at 5:27pmThat is good to hear, but I still resent having to pay full price twice because Miramax's Weinstien doesn't think my butt can take sitting for three hours. If he only knew!

I've also heard it's ultra violent and super gory. That might not be everyone's cup of tea.
As for LOTR. Each one of those films is three hours long...how could they make that into one movie?

Actually pt 1 isnt half a story... The Lord of the rings, was written as a full book when first published. In fact it is rare but you can find original copies of the book. It was latter dismantled into three seperate books, because in the time period it was unusual for books of such a long nature to be successfull, so they went for the break it up and sell them seperatly feature. SO IN FACT it is only a third of the story, being that its source material is a third of the story.

Went to the press screening, and in the words of Bart & Lisa Simpson: "meh."
I don't know why some of my colleagues chose to call it the "most violent American movie ever made." Just this year alone "Gangs of New York" was violenter. It isn't all that stylish, it isn't all that cool, but there are obvious choices throughout that could only have been made because they were thought to be "stylish" or "cool."
And no, Vol 1 is not a complete story on its own. It's less than two hours long and feels like so much more.

Posted: 10/8/03 at 8:04amI would say it was pretty much equal but that Reservoir Dogs was more realistic and thus more disturbing. The Kill Bill violence is more cartoony than the stuff on your average Itchy and Scratchy Show.
