1937 Vaudeville is officially declared a dying breed today, as Variety merges its "vaudeville" and "nite clubs" sections for the first time ever. The entertainment newspaper explains that "the vaudeville department has lately been particularly difficult to fill up."
Is TIME OUT NY trying to tell us something when they discontinued the CABARET section?
Meanwhile, my reading & publication advertising $$$$ are going to WHERE & CABARET SCENES & banners on websites. Unless I'm mistaken, TONY has told the Cabaret community to take a flying leap, & are we just standing there taking it?! What is TONY doing to earn the "Supported By" logo at the bottom of the MAC letterhead, besides offering a discount to MAC members to advertise? I say unless TONY does something more substantial & reinstates the Cabaret Section AND includes reviews, this "discount" warrants nothing.
Has anyone read anything any where about the "new" proposals MAC intends to implement this year? I just cked the MAC website & nothings up re this topic. What is MAC waiting for? Sept.'s almost upon us. I'm concerned that unless announcements are made & action is taken (if indeed any type of organization, planning, etc. has begun), the seemingly best intentions will fail. TO THE MAC BOARD: Take action NOW. Please do not pay lip service to complaints & strong suggestions.
The PERFECT opportunity to make these announcements & request membership help was in the membership renewals notice. Give me a reason why should I & others should renew our memberships besides the same ol' same ol' rhetoric.
Does someone need to set up a petition website listing membership propositions where MAC members can sign, in order to get the Board to address membership concerns, e.g., implement changes in the method Board members are elected & have monthly meetings before MAC addresses these serious disenfranchisements?
What's up?
