Blast, I have become one of those audition posters.
Anyhow, I have university auditions for the part of Emily in OUR TOWN. I'm supposed to perform a monologue by one of the "Classic American Playwrights" like Tennessee Williams, Eugene O'Neil, Arthur Miller etc.
I'm a 19 year old girl and obviously, want something targeted towards my age. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
C'mon, do it for my puppy <---

Why don't you just go directly for it... and try Emily's very poignant monologue at the end of Our Town? ...When she says goodbye to everything for the last time.
(A word of directorial advice: Don't overdo it, though. It's a beautifully written moment that doesn't need a hammer to get the point across. If you "see" everything she's talking about, the audience will see it with you.)

I would, but we've specifically been told not to perform anything from the play. Thank you, though, it's still good advice that I can work with if I get the part.

maybe something from The Glass Menagerie? heres a link to a whole bunch of monologues. (i was oging to suggest one from brighton beach memoirs thats on the page, but youre obviously not 50, so)
heres the link, there are definately some good ones there, and its got the author with each one so you can narrow them down right away.

Thank you so much everyone. It's definitely a problem when there aren't many roles under 20 years old.
You rock my socks off.

no problem, glad to help! theres a good one in there from a play called Oleanna, but i dont know if the author is considered a great american playwright. its good though, and itd definately fit your age range.
