Odd Couple Review?

ATC has one very short one by Danny who went opening night...not much detail on the performances and why they might be good or bad. He did not like Mantello's direction (which I had heard from others who saw rehearsals and dress was WONDERFUL) so obviously there will be differing opinions. It is still in previews so there are actors still trying to settle into roles from what I've heard.

I will be going on Friday and will try to report over the weekend if I have time.

I was at the show yesterday and thought, given all the gossip about actors not knowing lines, and tension with the director, they are in very good shape. Lots of big laughs from the audience. The snappy Neil Simon dialogue totally comes through, especially in the hands of Nathan and Rob, and Lee (looking very much like John Fiedler!) who seem to have that kind of classic comedy in their bones. Brad seemed nervous and only going moment by moment, but I think he'll be fine eventually. The Pigeon Sisters are terrific and adorable and I love those 60's outfits (though Jessica Stone's dress wasnt the most flattering). I think they all just need to settle in and get completely comfortable with all the props and business. It's just a early preview, so I don't want to be too critical. I'm going back next month and will report again.
