Would this Amazon link be to the film, or to the stage version?

I never knew the stage version was available on DVD. Wonder if any other shows from the past were recorded for release (as opposed to recorded for the Library) - but never put it on VHS.
above it it says "the original sensation, Oh Calcutta" and the subtitle says "The Worlds Longest Running Erotic Stage Musical" so maybe it is the stage version?? interesting.

The stage version was at one time available on VHS. I'm assuming this is just a transferrence to DVD.
Are you sure? In this article, he says an 80's VHS released was supposed to happen, but presumably didn't.

Yes, there was a home video release of Oh! Calcutta! Remember seeing it -- it had Bill Macy in it.

"Directed by Levy, the film version is for the most part a tape of the stage production, apparently made in 1972. I'm not sure that the movie ever had theatrical exhibition, and may have been shot for closed-circuit television, an early form of cable."
This version was released on VHS. I have rented it from the video store. TLA Video in the West Village used to have a copy of it.

The package for the DVD is different. The VHS had the woman with towel around her waist, but nothing on top.
What took the place of the Edison Theatre? I can't remember.

I think it's now a cabaret club.

Ken Mandelbaum is reviewing this very DVD today over at Broadway.com. Odd coincidence, huh?

It was a very unusual show I remember seeing it on B'way yrs ago 36 yrs ago I think
I agree with Margo. This has to be one of the worst videos to sit through. Horrible sketches. Horrible nudity. Horrible show. Doesn't even have any camp value.

The Edison Theatre was the ballroom of the Edison Hotel. It is now "The Supper Club".
Interesting historical document, though, and several of the original cast are in it including the late George Welbes.

Where was the Eden theatre that Oh, Calcutta premiered at?
What does the title refer to?
I believe it is a French pun...I know I'll get the spelling wrong..Oh! Quelle que t'as!...loosely translated as "Oh! What a nice ass!"
