So Im putting together this 'revue with a plot' thing as a fundraiser, and I really need some suggestions. Basically, I am looking for a song that two female belters can sing as part of the show within a show. It needs to be a big, brassy, and at least somewhat sexy song. It doesn't necessarily already need to be a duet ('Connie and Carla' was full of nonduets done as duets) Currently, the song is "The Glory of Love" and frankly, Im happy with everything about the script except that song. Suggestions appreciated:)

You mean solos that can be turned into duets?

"I Enjoy Being a Girl" - Flower Drum Song
"Let Me Entertain You" - Gypsy
"When You Got It, Flaunt It" - The Producers

I like "When you got it, flaunt it." I don't really care whether its already an established duet, or a solo that can be turned into a duet, I just need a total showstopper. I've gone through my entire vault of CDs and mp3s, and Im just not liking anything. Maybe after picking the other 18 songs, Im just burned out.

"Side Show" was the first show I looked at, but as much as I love the music, the songs didn't strike me as 11:00 numbers. I need something like "Gimme Gimme" from Millie or the above suggested "When you've got it, flaunt it." Sassy showstoppers. :) Thanks to all the people who have suggested so far, its much appreciated.

"Gimmick" from Gypsy, Yeah, it's a trio, but with a little creative work, you can make it one heckuva duet.

Solid Silver Platform Shoes - The Magic Show

It's upbeat, sexy, slightly rock, great harmonies, features both singers equally, funny, and was originally performed as a show-within-a-show. You can also find it on Ripley and Skinner's Unsuspecting Hearts CD. If performed well, it can bring down the house.

Its not really a belting song, but it would work. How about the Act I finale from Chicago (I can't remember the exact title, but I think its "My Own Best Friend"). That could be a showstopper.

EDIT: Not really sexy... I dont know lol Updated On: 11/3/04 at 01:05 PM

Here's something rather exotic:
the duet "Men like you" from the Leslie Bricusse musical "Sherlock Holmes", a really catchy tune.

Everybody's Girl from Steel Pier would totally be a showstopper if done right.

or

Don't Tell Mama from Cabaret would have the same effect

Yes that's me. No, it's not a Rent homage.
