Oklahoma City University Seeks New Musicals

Attention all composing teams of new musicals!! Here's something that you might be interested in!

"Stripped", the student run theater company over seen by the Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University, realizes the importance of developing new musicals.

We’re looking for the new musicals for a new generation. Fresh, original, cutting edge, conservative, funny, inventive, unique.

All types of shows for all kinds of audiences. We invite composers, lyricists and writers to submit their material to be considered for our new musicals presentation in April at Oklahoma City University.

The Details:

All new musical theater projects written within the last five years are welcome to submit their material. The submission package should include:

A CD of the show’s entire score
A description of the entire show
A description of each song and what the scene is

We are not considering children’s theater productions or revues/jukebox shows. All material must be original. Songs should be able to be performed with just piano accompaniment and no sets, costumes, props or choreography.

It is our intention to select four shows to be presented in concert style in April 2006. We will select four to five songs from each selected show to be performed by our OCU musical theater students. Narration will be provided between songs to establish the scene. Selected shows will be notified in late February and must provide “Stripped” with appropriate sheet music. A complementary video of the “Stripped” concert presentation will be provided to the production team of our selected shows. No monetary compensation will be provided.

We invite all submissions. We have received submissions from all over the world! Material will not be returned unless accompanied by a postage paid, return envelope. Deadline for submissions is February 20th, 2006

Yes she did!

I can vouch for "Stripped." I am an OCU student who has worked with this group before. They do incredible things. The performers are first rate, and will do your songs justice.

Go ahead and send them in!

Sorry to dissapoint you Mayella, but there is nothing sexual about the name of "Stripped".

If you read the info, you would see that "Stripped" presents shows in a "stripped" setting...meaning no sets, no costumes, no props, no choreography and no orchestra. A bare stage setting that is "stripped" of the usual things that make a full production.

Not very sexual at all.

Kristen Chenoweth went there too!

I'm excited that school is doing Parade! I really want to try and see it. I have a friend in the musical theatre program there. It's such an awesome school.

Yes Kristin went here. So did Lara Teeter, Roy Bean ("Chicago"), Ron Raines ("Chicago"/ "Guiding Light"), Susan Powell (Miss America 1980), Julie Hansen ("Phantom") and Jordan Ballard ("Hairspray").

Please, don't be naive. It's called a double entendre. You're dealing with collegiates. If the title wasn't already taken, I'm sure they would have called it BARE.

Hey Alabama, it's sad that you think everyone and everything is overtly sexual. Here's a piece of advice..ya might want to stay away from this board and theater in general since your precious, hollier than thou attitude is gonna clash with people who actually have a clue.

Guess Alabama won't be seeing "Bare", "Wicked" or even (burn in hell).."DAMN Yankees". Keep profanity out of theater! Burn witch burn!
