I guess I can only speak for myself but i never suggested RNJ/Fish Laurie is the only correct interpretation. Its AN interpretation.

Others have a different response, and that's only fair. People are sensitive about revivals and have different tastes. But to me, it's a testament to the strength of the score and lyrics that it can be played by an orchestra and sung in a traditional Broadway style - and work wonderfully - and it can be played by a small bluegrass band with non-traditional singing - and work just as well.

I thought I would love this.
I don't care for it. Too much purposeful twanging in the voices. Too much screaming. I thought the Tony performance was delightful so I must assume that something is lost on the recording.
