the inspiration for the All That Jazz rehearsal room was room D at Broadway Arts, which was on the 5th floor of the Cadillac dealership on the west side of Broadway, just above 56th Street.
they recreated the room down to handwritten phone numbers on the wall near the phone.
And on the 8th avenue side of the same block, Showcase Studios.

Thanks, Subtly. So I must be thinking of Showcase Studios, because that would be the NE corner or 56th 8th...although the story I told on the OT board was about meeting Fosse there once in 1979.
Is it possible he also rehearsed or auditioned sometimes at Showcase Studios?

And, if I remember correctly, Showcase was the seedier of the two.
But I could be mixing them up.
