re: Oliver!

"The film is gorgeous to look at and listen to and boasts an absolutely perfect cast. The movie wisely cut some of the lesser numbers as well."

Joey, so right. The movie IS much better than the stage production. (Hence its Oscar as Best Picture of 1968.) I love the score -- if Lionel Bart only had one score up his sleeve, he sure pulled out a winner. The film is well paced and the final shot of Oliver Reed hanging is quite harrowing.

Shani is very good. I love her "Fine Life" and especially "Oom Pah Pah"

Good orchestrations as well!!

re: Oliver!

Just had to say LMAO at Jon for his tremendous comparison of Oliver to Annie *applauds*
"We are engaged in two wars, one on drugs and one on terror, that can never be won. I mean, one is a group of inanimate objects and the other is an emotion. We might as well fight a war on pasta, which I guess the Atkins people are actually doing."

re: Oliver!

I find OLIVER! to be one of the finest musicals ever written, so no, I don't find it annoying. Perhaps you've never seen it done well?
