Posted: 6/5/06 at 9:26pmI'm reading On Golden Pond (a likeable play, though it's not really my favorite). How does the play differ from the movie (Is it still in print?)?

Posted: 6/6/06 at 10:06amIt is a much better written film than it is as a play.

Calling the film excruciatingly mediocre neglects the amazing work, lives and talent the three leads brought to the project. Yes, agreed, with Kate and the Fondas, it wouldn't be much, but with them it is magic.
The TV version of the play with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer was indeed the play script as written ... but they were never believable as the elderly couple of that script, even though they were the right ages.
