Hey everyone. I just auditioned for once upon a mattress, and the director asked me to bring a monologue to the callbacks. I am trying for Dauntless, the Jester, or the Minstrel. Any monologue suggestions? Thanks.

do a funny monologue from a golden age musical. nothing too contemporary, nothing to dramatic.

If I were a girl, for some reason, I think that I would want to be Lady Larkin over Princess Winnifred.....

aw! Princess Winnifred is the best role ever! I had so much fun playing her! I love this show! I have actually done it twice! First time I was the minstrel. That was pretty interesting lol!

Hehe. I played Lady Maybelle/Princess 12 a long time ago, and it was a riot....of course, our crazy director set it stylistically in the 60s - so the opium reference was REALLY funny....:)

AH, I love summer stock.

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

I was a Lady in Waiting for this four years ago, it's such a funny show! Go for a funny monologue if you want the part of the Jester or Dauntless, but maybe something slightly less slapstick for the Minstrel (just my opinion don't shoot me lol). Anyway NOT a dumb show.. *sigh* so much fun.

I was in the chorus of this recently. I used to hate the show when I saw it last year. After doing the show, I Love it. I'd love to do it again and be the Jester someday. 'Very Soft Shoes' really grew on me.

I'm Dauntless in a current production. I didn't care for the at all at the time I was cast. But during the course of rehearsals, I've realized how funny the script is, and most of the score has really grown on me!
