I think it should be revived and done right! No stunt casting just the people who are right for the part!
I actually didn't find the SJP one THAT bad. It was ok.

I don't think you'll find many producers who agree with you.
You're just fill of thoughts today, aren't you?

Yes. Haha. But why not? Isn't that what this site is for?
The show could be done successfully (sp?) if they don't ruin it by stunt casting....unless they get Tracey Ullman (who I LOVED in the movie. I don't care what anyone says!)

It can't. It's not a money maker. Unless Paris Hilton stars.

I wish people would just take their meds, get day jobs, and stay off this site.

Ok, what about what's her name....the woman who played Daphne on Fraiser?
Maybe not on Broadway, but it might make a fun little off-Broadway show. The score is still brilliant, and the book holds up far better than most things playing right now.
Anything to erase the memory of that awful Sarah Jessica Parker mess.
Nobody wanted to revive it the first time. The only reason the 1996 revival happened was because Mary Rodgers, daughter of Richard and controller of his royalties struck a deal with Dodger Theatricals when a bidding war broke out over the rights to revive THE KING AND I. She granted the rights to Dodger BUT with the stipulation that they also revive her show, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS.
I don't think the show will be revived on Broadway for many, many, many moons.

Please god....... never again.......
I saw the show from the front row, and just couldn't believe how much I didn't like it. I was expecting a lot as I wasn't familiar with the show at all, but ended up being very disappointed.

He also wrote one about making the movie "Election" into a musical...

Easy on the revivals.
More new plays, new musicals.

Its a gorgeous show when done right. Get Charlotte D'Amboise to star. She's not too old.
I AGREE! This si defiantley a favorite. A community theatre near me is doing it, I'm probably gonna audition

I would love to see this show revived. Listening to it just makes me happy.

Charlotte D'Amboise??? The show was helmed by Carol Burnett in its original reincarnation and though I wasn't around at the time, I am sure she made it a hit. As talented as D'Amboise is she could never carry a show as lacking as Once Upon A Mattress, the show commands for a star who is able to provide a stellar performance and who is not afraid to be a broad. D'Amboise ain't it.
