Alright, this may sound WAAY out there, but:
Which characters sing which songs in Once Upon a Mattress?
It was announced yesterday that the musical at my school next year is Once Upon a Mattress, and I was just curious to see who sings whats, just to get an idea of what part I should possibly work on over the summer (o ya, and im a guy, so obviously a guy part). I would like a lead...or at least, an attention getting part, and there seems to be quite a few (Jester, Dauntless, Minstrel?). Any help would be appreciated
o ya, and its the original version, not the revival

Gr8 show.
Sir Harry and the Minstrel are the legit voices who sing the big ballads (Many Moons Ago, In A Little While, Normandy, Yesterday I Loved You). The Jester is a singer/dancer (Very Soft Shoes), Prince Dauntless is a comedian who can sing. The King and the Wizard are non-singing.

I, too, have played the Minstrel. I loved it... and it's my most fun experience on stage.
I will never forget the lyrics to "The Song of Love", or "FRED" as we called it at school.

My high school did this show last fall. There are a bunch of great male roles, something for everyone. Harry and Minstrel are the more tenor ballad-singing roles. The jester is a singer/dancer with one of the best show-stealing songs in the show (Very Soft Shoes). Then there's Dauntless, who's kind of a dumb little kid ins ome ways, it's a very funny role. Then there's the king, who does not sing, but if you are a physical comedian you could easily "grab attention" as you requested. Our king was amazing and the audience loved him. I played the Wizard, who sings about 2 lines and isn't that big of a role at all, but I still managed to make it comedic and do a lot of fun things with it. It's a great show, have fun!
