Did anyone see this presentation at the New York Theater Workshop the three days it was featured there? I went last night, first and foremost becuz I love tony kushner, and I thought it was amzing. Holly Hunter was just wonderful and tragic as Laura Bush, and later as Mr. Kushner himself, her comedic exuberance just shined. Cynthia Nixon was perfectly inncoent-yet-knowing as the Angel, and the piece itself (Only We Who Guard The Mystery Shall Be Unhappy) was witty and bright and funny and dry and wry and just great. Okay, not Kushner's best play ever, but c'mon, who's expect it to be?
And the Patriot Act presentation that followed was so.... informative. I'm normally hesitant to believe every word every activist says, and this guy was a totally biased activist, but as always, I checked his sources (handy dandy list of them was thoughtfully distributed post-show) but I discovered not one lie, and that is scarily awesome.
Anyway, I'm trying to say alot to share my opinion with those who DID see it, while staying quiet for those who didnt. Unfortunately, the presentation ended last night, but I still think it just might be one of the best night's of theater I've had in... a while.
Here's further info about what was presented...
thanks for the post and link -
i wish i could have seen it
