Opening Night vs. Previews

Is there any advantage to seeing a show on opening night instead of in previews?
I want to get tickets to The Color Purple and will be in New York City the week it opens. The only differences I could think of would be the ticket prices might vary and there maybe a chance to see some celebrities in the audience on opening night as opposed to the night before when it is still in previews. Would I be missing out on anything seeing it the night before it opens? Any thoughts or experiences?

As far as the show, I enjoy seeing a show in previews, especially cause if you come back later you'll often times find that things have been changed a reworked which is kinda cool... The show may be more polished by opening night, btu I find the experience of seeing a show in previews fun. But if you only plan on going once, you might wanna go after it opens.
