I don't know if that's why people didn't go to see it. I think a lot of people don't think AIDS is so important anymore. Either way, interesting point. Opinions anyway?
It was an amazing play that all should have had the opportunity to see and be moved by.

I am AIDS fatigued, having grieved enough for 10 lifetimes. I simply wasn't emotionally able to see the show again after 20 years (forgive me, dear Raul.) That's also how friends felt. However, that response got me into a big argument with another member here who thought I 'copped out.' He still has NO idea what i've contributed over the last 20 years.

Now that we have a somewhat better handle on HIV and can treat it in a more meaningful fasion...the daily deaths have slowed BUT it is easy for a new generation to get lax and forget that the disease lurks just around the corner, ready to strike with epidemic force again if we are not careful.

In general STD and AIDS public service announcements and education in the school systems is woefully inadequate and people who don't remember the 80's are at risk of getting too casual. This show should have been seen by the 20 and 30 somethings to keep it fresh in their minds and is a very powerful statement. But, obviously a difficult subject to watch on stage.

midtown, no one should insult you for not seeing it. It's your choice whether to revisit those feelings.
Raul forgives :)

I am young and never lived through the beginning of the AIDS crisis and so seeing it was so eye opening. It made me angry and I just wanted to leave there and go protest or something. I think that was the beauty in it. I saw it twice, allowed myself to grieve and cry again because I knew I was seeing something so special.

I think they should put on Larry Kramer's sequel "The Destiny Of Me"
