Opposite sex roles that you would love to play if you could . . . .

Maybe this has been done before but oh well, I thought it would be fun. . . .

Mine are:

Roger in RENT
Jean Val Jean in LES MISERABLES
Jonathan in tick, tick...BOOM!
Emcee in CABARET

Hmmm.

Amneris - Aida (I love "Strongest Suit" and "I Know The Truth", and the character seems really fun)

Glinda - Wicked (Who wouldn't want to make their entrance on a huge metal bubble? Plus its a really great part comedically and has its touching moments as well. Oh yeah, and the whole "Popular" thing helps too!)

Adelaide - Guys and Dolls (Great part!)

Audrey - LSOH (Her character is so excellent and has great songs!)

Aida in AIDA
Sawyer in 42nd STREET
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

You know what? I'd want to play a lot of the power-belting roles if I were a woman, and the parts Wildhorn wrote for Linda Eder. Yup yup. Florence, Eponine, Elphaba, Susan in tick, tick...BOOM!...lots of that sort of part. And Lucy and Marguerite. Great stuff there, sad I can't sing it.

'course, I can't sing a lot of male material either, but I can at least try!
