Oprah Broadway-Bound in COLOR PURPLE?

Yesterday, I read in I think "Life and Style" magazine (I will find out exactly) that Orpah is considering playing the role of Sofia in the Broadway production of "The Color Purple" for a few weeks this summer.
I will go get the article and type it up if anyone has any doubts. And I hope this hasnt been posted already, and if it has, I'm really sorry.
So... any thoughts? comments? concerns?

If she does, it will be practically impossible to get tickets. They'd probably bump up the prices too because people would pay big bucks to see "The Big O"

This must be untrue. In a tv interview at the opening she said she'd love to do it, but cannot sing. The show is doing well enouogh with Oprah's name above the title.

yeah, in the article she mentioned she cant sing too well, but i will go get the article and type it up, okay? :) this may take a bit though!

I wouldn't rule it out, but I doubt it would happen. Oprah's also been quoted as saying that Felicia Fields is too good in the part.

"Oprah to take on Broadway!
Not only is Oprah a major investor in the new Broadway musical 'The Color Purple', but she wants to star in it ,too! Oprah has been thinking about taking over the role of Sofia for a few weeks this summer when her talk show goes on hiatus. She's familiar with the part because it's the role that won her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. The only hitch? This time, she'd have to sing and best pal Gayle King has warned her she better start practicing.

so yeah, there you have it. and i guess it does have the "cant sing" part. oh well, i hope she does- im spening my whole summer in nyc, so at least i could meet her! :)
