Orange Colored Sky - Audition song

Hello,

I am very new to this message board, so be nice. I have been reading the posts that have to do with auditioning. Since, I am auditioning for the theatre programs at Florida State University and University of Central Florida.

My question to you is, the song I have chosen for the up-tempo is "Orange Colored Sky" yet I can not find the show the song was sung in. Does anyone happen to know? Also, I didn't know if anyone knew of another up-tempo song that is rather short (1 min and 30 secs. or so) for a tenor range. I am not a Broadway buff like most of you are on here and that is why I thought people would know on here. Thank you very much for your help in this.

Is "Orange-Colored Sky" actually from a show? I thought it was just a pop song done by Nat King Cole, but I could be wrong!

It's not from a show, but I used it for years for auditions. Great song!

The song was popularized by Nat King Cole and Betty Hutton and is neither from a show nor, if memory serves, a movie.

Explore the work of such writers as Gershwin, Kern, Warren, Porter, etc who wrote plenty of wonderful, short uptempo songs such as NO STRINGS, I CAN'T BE BOTHERED NOW, YOUNG AND HEALTHY, BLOW, GABRIEL, BLOW, LOVE IS SWEEPING THE COUNTRY, etc. There is an untold wealth of material out there. Dive in!

that is a great song, if you feel good with it. Do it babe.

I auditioned for FSU and UCF a few years back, relax, and have fun. They are really looking for persoanlity! Introduce yourself to them with song. You'll be great, they are good people!
