shes been in saturday night fever. and grease! at papermill. ive heard she can be a real bitch but she seems like she would be a blast to hang out with!
Actually, her husband Andy Karl starred in Grease at Papermill. I know this because I couldn't stop drooling the whole time I was watching him. My apologies to his lovely wife for that crass statement, but I can't help it. Where I first "discovered" her was in the short-lived Fascinating Rhythm. What made me a fan for life, however, was her turn as Janis Joplin in Love, Janis. I've said this before, it was one of the best performances I've ever seen. She can be a "bitch", as long as she remains that riveting on stage. There are a tiny minority of us posters who don't care what someone is like in *real life* as I have no delusions about befriending the entertainers. Just entertain me and do it well. That's all I ask and all I'm entitled to.
I could care less about who they are off stage as long as theyd eliver on... though I will admit, I do love meeting some of the actors I have seen.... (I make a point of telling the ensemble members who did a great job that I thought so.. they are SO underappreciated).. if I make friends with an actors, so be it.... be I don't expect such a thing.... Orfeh is a WONDERFUL performer... she understudied Rusty in Footloose as well..... that girl can WAIL 'Let's Hear It For The Boy'
yea ive done that a few times... like no soneone couldnt have POSSIBLY reconized me... well coming from an ensemble member, most of us are much nicer to our 'fans' at the stage door, because we usually dont have any. we dont get big heads about being in a successful show because we are only a small part. I have been known to spend over half an hour talking to someone after a show because i found it flattering that they knew who i was and that they took the time to say something to me
Me and Mrs. Jones was another highly underrated show. It had one of the best all around casts I've ever seen/heard. Not only did it have Orfeh, but it starred Darlene Love, Lou Rawles, Anika Rose, David St. Louis (another hearthrob), Andy Karl, Eugene Fleming and that's just off the top of my head. I had a great time seeing it in Philly and the crowd went (deservedly), wild. And Amen to you too BG2.
I totally agree. I wasn't initially a fan, but Orfeh *was* Janis...not an easy task for those of us who have a warm spot reserved in our heart for Pearl. I am grateful to Orfeh for capturing the essence of Janis, not just playing the Southern Comfort swilling charicature.

im a shill for Love,Janis and I have to say she was one of the best janis's besides my other fav cathy richardson. Orfeh is a wonderful talent and I wish her the best of luck.
I just realized that with a few exceptions, the cast of Me and Mrs. Jones is almost the same as for the elusive Temptation movie. Anyone see it yet? Amneris, if you admit you're a shill, than you're not *really* a shill :) and I agree, Richardson was a powerhouse in the role, as well.
I have to disagree with those who like this performer. I worked FR& SNF several times & cringed whenever she started screaming...um...SINGING. It was not about entertaining the audience with a strong rendition of a song, it was about seeing how loudly she could sing & how over-the-top she could be. Please don't remind me "it's stage" because I know the difference. There can be subtlety (sp?) on stage as well.
