Hi all!
Hope you don't mind me doing a little plug for a show I'm involved in, as I thought some of you might be interested in this news!
Producers of the UK premiere of the off-Broadway cult hit musical REEFER MADNESS! have announced that Canadian actor Christian Campbell will make a vocal cameo in the production.
Campbell - who originated the lead role of Jimmy Harper in the LA premiere in 1998, the off-Broadway production in 2001 and the Emmy Award-winning Showtime movie in 2005 - has recorded the voiceovers of the show's Radio Announcer.
Christian's sister, actress Neve Campbell, also appeared in the movie version of the musical.
In a special treat for fans of the show, Campbell's voice appears on numerous radio announcements throughout the story - including those announcing the imprisonment of Jimmy Harper himself!
The full cast list for the premiere is:
The Lecturer - Matthew Wilkinson
Jimmy Harper - Dean Kilford
Mary Lane - Lucy Grainger
Mae - Annabel King
Jack Stone - Simon Mathis
Sally - Lisa-Marie Graham
Ralph Wiley - Leejay Townsend
Jesus - William Hazell
A Goat Man - Tom Idelson
The Lecturer's Assistant - Rebecca Hamway
Chorus of Reefer Addicts, Reefer Zombies, Students and Patriotic Americans - Jenny Layton, Katie Paine, Anton Tweedale
Radio Announcer (Voice) - Christian Campbell
A biting musical satire of the 1936 black-and-white propaganda film of the same name, Reefer Madness! will - for the first time - introduce unsuspecting Brits to the harrowing tale of Jimmy Harper: a fresh-faced, innocent, all-American high school boy lured into the dangerous world of marijuana. Guided along the way by a colourful cast of characters, will Jimmy successfully navigate this seedy underworld and live to tell the tale?
This high-energy, high-camp and highly addictive musical romp is presented by flytheatre in a nightly double-bill with the raucously hilarious new musical Aristophanes' Clouds.
One whiff and you'll be hooked!
