I waited in line for two hours on a cold winter morning to get standing room space for this lovely play--and loved (almost) ever minute of it!!!! Yes, Stephen Spinella was an outstanding Simon Stimson, but the over-all production was quite good and I found myself weeping at the sweetness of the soda fountain scene, charmed by the wedding and deeply touched by the third act's ponderance of immortality. And yes, It was wonderful to see Paul Newman live.
Then, maybe I'm just in love with the play. I've directed it three times and played George Gibbs when I was still young enough to do so.
I'm eagerly anticipating the telecast.
