We've lost Peter Murphy to London, too?
Sigh. One wonders if any of these wonderful performers are ever going to come home!

Very well, Mama. If you send Mr. Sheldon and Ms. Carroll home safe and sound, I will ensure that Mr. Livermore and his Sacred Cow remains on our shores.

NO!

Mr. Livermore brought 'Sacred Cow ' to the Phoenix in London for 6 months back in 1980. It was one of the most bizarre nights I have ever spent in the theatre.
I was recently given the cast recording- not an easy listen.

*it closed after about 4 weeks if I remember correctly?

I believe you are right Mama, I've read Mr. Livermore's autobiography and he does discuss his very brief West End stint, but I cannot remember exactly how long (or short...) it was. Perhaps wildcat could shed some light?

When Reg Livermore brought his triumphant production, 'Sacred Cow to London he was walking on air when he ventured to London's tough West End, but it wasn't very long before he fell to earth with a crashing thud.
It was July 1980, after the home-turf triumphs of his brilliantly theatrical one-man stage shows, Betty Blokk Buster Follies, Wonder Woman and Sacred Cow. The omens for success in London, and possibly Broadway a few months later, had looked good.
Why, even the legendary director Hal Prince said as much, while insisting that Livermore be as bold as ever and not think twice about including his unapologetically vulgar character, Vaseline Amalnitrate, in his show at the Phoenix Theatre.
The auditorium was packed. Stephen Sondheim was there and so was a relatively unknown Julian Clary who sat transfixed in the front row. He loved every minute of the bawdy burlesque, but not everyone did. Within two minutes of conjuring the foul-mouthed Vaseline Amalnitrate, some people in the audience loudly protested.
One punter stood up and yelled, 'I'll give you two weeks in this town!' followed soon after by a lady in the dress circle calling for 'more wit without the filth, please!'. Another heckler interjected: 'When are you going to stop being disgusting and say something funny?'
His appearance on BBC TVS 'Parkinson' lost him the few UK fans he still had when he mad a remark along the lines of 'I had no idea the English had no sense of humor like us Ausssies do!
The UK press had a ball digging into the show.
The reviews talked of 'deportation to Botany Bay for this vile Aussie invader', while the media back home in Australia had a field day reporting his demise.
THe show closed pretty fast and any hope he had of it going to Broadway was halted there and then by the Uk press and public.

It opened in July 1980 and must have had a very short run as the Phoenix had its next show in there by the September, 'The Biograph Girl' (Just fro the record that show miss fired too)
