Ooh sorry - forgot to post, kec! I did enjoy Patience! Loved it actually. I wish it was going to be around longer so I could see it a second time. My only complaint is that I was so far up in the 4th ring that I couldn’t see faces, only fleshly colored little blurs. But I could hear perfectly and what I heard was stunning. I took my mother along for her birthday and she was completely floored by Michael Ball. Now I really can’t wait for The Woman in White....
Thanks, everyone, for convincing me to go!
"Michael Ball as Reginald Burnthorne and Kevin Burdett at Archibald Grosvenor are a musical comedy team on par with Lane and Broderick.
Singly their work is superb. Together they are musical comedy perfection. A match made in musical comedy heaven.
These performances are not to be missed. "
Love your comments, José -- and I completely agree!! Michael and Kevin make a fantastic team. I hope they will work together again sooner rather than later.
BTW, how did you like the third verse of the Dragoons' first song
Kelly, glad you had such a great time.

When I first heard that this show was an opera, I honestly was very afraid that I would not enjoy it. I thought it would be in a different language and told my friend that I would be asleep on his shoulder except for the scenes with MB in them.
What a suprise and a delight Patience turned out to be!
Michael was clearly having a "Ball" with the role of Reginald Bunthorne. My friend (who was not a MB fan) was blown away by his performace. I think his a confirmed convert.
I also totally enjoyed the rest of the cast. Most noteable was Kevin Burdette as Archibald Grosvenor. I loved his deep voice and blue eyes.
I'm very sorry that another event prevents me from going to see the show again before it closes.
Very, very, very well done all!

I am so glad everyone is enjoying this show. It keeps getting better and better. I talked briefly with Myrna Paris after Fridays show and she said she so loved the production. And she was having a great time. I am sorry to see this particular show end it has been such fun. Too bad they did not film it. If you all can get to the theatre on Wednesday you should You will not be disappointed. Oh I forgot. This past matinee on Sunday, there were people of all ages there. Adults, kids, teenagers, just every age group possible and they were all having a good time.

I'm sad to see it end as well. Would have loved to make one more trip to see the last show but it ain't gonna happen lol!
This would have been terrific on PBS Great Performances...I don't think anyone quite realized the enourmously positive reaction the show was going to receive from audiences.
And I agree with Jose...Michael and Kevin are an outstanding comedy team. The dance number in the final show should be a real treat! Michael and Myrna are excellent together as well.

As a long time British fan of Michael Ball (who won't be seeing Patience :sob:), I'm delighted to read so many great comments on here. I'm not surprised at his success - Michael is a very gifted musical theatre actor as well as a brilliant concert performer.
Wow, sounds like a lot of fun, I may just have to go see PATIENCE now.
Thanks, Chyrsanthemum... I've been a long-time fan of Michael Ball, and I always enjoy the City Opera productions, so am very excited to see this!
I'll let you know what I think.
Lori, I agree, it really is a shame that no one thought to preserve this fantastic show on DVD, or even an audio CD. The people in charge of "Live At Lincoln Center" really missed out on this!
Chrys, I agree with you about Kevin. He is truly a gifted performer. Hopefully it won't be too long before he is back on a stage.
Mollyfair, it's great to see that so many people in the U.S. are finally getting to see Michael at his best. I feel confident that he'll get even more recognition when he opens as Count Fosco next month.

What fun.
Wonderful staging, beautiful singing, talented performances... I enjoyed every moment.
And, I echo Jose's posts about the comic 'perfection' of Michael Ball and Kevin Burdett! Though I must give kudos to the performances of the supporting characters, as well.
G&S, Victoriana, the Aesthetic Movement... what a wonderful night of theatre!

I was there last night as well. I loved it! So much fun...and Ball was fabulous.
I kept whispering *Meffie, Meffie...* hoping someone would turn around.
...And I approached at least 15 women dressed all in pink...
I was so mad at myself for not making a plan to meet with you during intermission to buy you a glass of bubbly.
NEXT time...
