Has anyone else noticed this? Not one note sung. Are they afraid they'll lose an audience if they advertise it as a musical?
I hear singing in all the trailers I see. Granted, it's not the best singing I've ever heard, but it's singing.

I don't think that they thought they would loose an audience if they knew it was a musical. Millions have seen phantom since it opened, and to the non-theatre going public is one of the most known musicals. I doubt thats what they had in mind.
The trailers in the movie theatres have singing? The commercials on TV that I've seen have no singing. I guess different ads run for different audiences?

There's singing. At least in the latest POTO trailer, you can hear Masquerade and Gerry singing part of MOTN. You can download the trailer at Moviefone.com.
Oh and true...it's singing. It's good but not the BEST ever. Not even close.

I do feel that this is going to be a great movie musical.

I think it'll be good, with the potential to be great. I'll reserve judgement until I see it lol

I don't really think a lot of stuff hinges on whether its good or not. It's not the first movie musical, especially for Webber. So I don't really see what the fuss is about.

i like the trailer with just the orchastra.
I have to say, that here in Greece, the film is heavily marketed, something that surprised me for a musical. There are many TV spots and posters, something that happens only for potential box-office hits over here !! It opens on Dec. 10, can't wait !!! I do hope it's brilliant !
Take care
I actually have not seen too much marketing too date for TV commercials for it. I saw one last night and thought with the movies coming out in the next couple of weeks they should get on it more. I have a feeling it will not do as well as they think. Chicago whenever I saw a preview for it, it made me anticipate it more. They had promo's for that way way in advance. Musicals are a harder sell so I think you need to create a little buzz early on to catch people. I know musical fans who when I say, Oh phantom will be out soon and they think oh when it comes to Boston on tour..I say..NO the movie..they had hardly a clue it was almost out..they HEARD it was "being made" but I was shocked that they did not know it will be out in 2 weeks.
