Though I'm no fan of "Les Mis," I loved "Miss Saigon" and I ADORE Stephanie. The time has come for her to orginate a big role on Broadway! I wish I had the money to make the six hour trek to Chicago to see the show.

Thank you for the great review and for not giving away the plot.
I am so excited for this show- I just wish I were getting to see it in Chicago. Hopefully I can make it soon after the opening in New York. I can't wait to hear more about this and the score.
What does the show curtain look like?
I'm either going on November 2nd or 16th with Northwestern, hopefully the 2nd 'cause there's supposed to be a talk-back with Frank Galati for the Northwestern group::squeeee::
I'm going October 8th (front row w. mom!) and November 2nd (probably balcony, with theatre dept)....
so I'll give you my first idea, then my other later :)
It seems like a bunch of people (including myself) are going on november 2nd. Must be a popular date.

Capnhook, you asked "How was the flying?"
In response, let me quote Paul "The Fly Guy" Rubin: Pirates don't fly, they fall with style.
(Gotta love Paul...and anybody else who takes the time to answer our questions!)

Yeah, what's the show curtain like? I figured with Eugene Lee doing the designs, it would be a pretty massive and detailed set. Is it like the Wicked set with an overall idea that is transitioned from scene to scene or how is it?

The act 1 show curtain is a parchment-looking drop (veryyyyy like the Oz map for "Wicked") with a glimpse of the Irish coastline (Clare Island, the home of the O'Malley clan) and a 17th century ship emblazoned in the center with the crest of England on the bottom right corner.
The act 2 show curtain is parchment-looking as well, but has a very detailed and very incorrect map of "IRLANDE" as it would have appeared in the period. It looks like present day Ireland but flopped horziontal, thanks to the lack of good topography in the time. :P
Queenbee, I am very pleased to see I am not the only one who thought what I thought about last night's show. I sat back in the way back, nosebleed (last frickin row, y'all, WOO! ) and think it was a good place to start. I always find that I am personally detached from the show when I sit in the balcony; if I sit in the orchestra, I can let it wash over me and completely move me or not move me as the case may be, but in the balcony it feels much like watching tv to me, unfortunately. : Anywhooo moving on... I completely agree with your comments and assessment of the premiere preview.
Dead-on, girl. Word.
I'm so excited for the progress to be made. I have such confidence in them... a well-oiled machine is in their future. And I smell Tonys for Eugene Lee, Boublil and Schonberg, and Stephanie J. Block. For sure. Probably also the costumes and lights.
My next round will be November 14, followed by November 26, so much later in the run. I can't imagine how wonderful it will be by then... :]
Here's to the road to success! SLAINTE everybody! *raises glass*

I sit in those upper seats of the Palace for every show, and I look forward to it this weekend.
"1) Are there any loud bomb or gun noises in the show? (my loud noise phobia ) "
Yes, thunderstorms and cannons going off, extremely loud. In general I think the sound design on this show is outstanding, and the mix sounds incredible for early previews. But there are some mighty loud effects.
