POTO/ Majestic Theater Question

Hi. I might be buying tickets to see POTO for my NY trip, and I have the oppertunity to get them in the first row. Is the stage at the Majestic so high that it isnt good to be so close, or should I go ahead and buy them?
Thanks! Nick
PS It's a Monday night in July, so I would get the Christine alternate. Does anyone know if Jennifer Hope Wills will still be in the show then? Her website only has her performances through June. I presume that could only be through what her initial contract is for or only what the website has gotten to, but I also know maybe she could be planning a limited run. Does anyone know anything about it?

"Seating in the Majestic theater is perfect for front row viewing. (Phantom). The stage is low and so, perfect viewing of the entire stage from the front row! In some theaters (the one Chicago is playing---I don't remember the name), the stage is high and so you have to tilt your head up too far to see---so you'd want to be back further ideally."

Front row is awesome. Left orch. front row, you can literally hope on the stage. Plus it's where the kiss in the finale is. *sniffles*

Somethingwicked...Jennifer is not planning a limited run as the Christine alternate, so barring unforseen circumstances she should be performing on Monday nights in July. How lucky are you that you get to see her!:)

Has Monday night always been the designated alternate night?
I saw the show over three years ago and on a Monday night I had the regular Christine, Lisa Vroman.

No.
According to a post Jennifer made on her website, the alternate schedule is dictated by the discretion of the principal Christine. When it was originally announced, Jennifer was supposed to be doing Wednesday and Saturday matinees, but Rebecca Pitcher asked that she do Monday and Thursday evenings.
Another poster on her forum said she was the first alternate since Patti Cohenour of the OBC to not have to perform at least one matinee.

Rebecca is brave for doing 2 shows in a row on the same day!
i am glad Jen gets to do evening shows..matinees are so hard IMO...personally my voice sounds better in the evening after a day of letting it wake up fully. i hated missing ANY matinee what i was on with Joe Mahowald!

Posted: 4/22/06 at 9:29pm^I totally agree with you. Matinees don't have that same energy either, IMO. Everytime I perform a matinee with a show, castmates and myself will discuss how much different it feels.

To me seeing Phantom at a matinee just ruins the whole mood and tone of the show. It has to be seen at night-time. I never liked performing matinees either.

Posted: 4/23/06 at 1:01amI'd only seen Phantom matinees until the last time I saw it (6 mats, 1 eve), and I'm going to at least try seeing it at night next time.
