Pacific Overtures, I can't get enough!

Ok....I bought the OBRC a couple of weeks ago.....and then bought the revival today...like what they did with some, don't like what they did with others, but my question is......they also have the original London production here...has anyone heard it, and if so, what do you think?

you can see the version that was taped for Japanese television at the Museum of Television and Radio... I only have the OBC recording, but will be owning the revival cast as well, since that's the production we saw... don't know too much about the London version...

It was done by the English National Opera. The recording was one released on two discs and was indespensable for it's completeness. It has been a long times since I have listened to it, so I don't remember how much of the dialogue was included. The cast was English.

ah, thanks......I found it on amazon.com, listened a little and decided I didn't like it as much as the other two....although what I found only showed like 12 songs and on one disk......I think I'll pass

The complete London recording contains Commodore Perry's Lion Dance music, which unfortunately didn't make it on the original cast album (due to its being produced back in the LP days).

It's alright, but nothing can compete with the original.

There is a one disc and two disc version- which is very rare.

The accents are quite false, but the orchestrations are stunning.

I saw the production, which was gripping- vast and epic, but still retaining its humanity.

Beautiful design, too.
