Is this still on? They made a few cast annoucments a little while ago, but no theatre or date has been arranged or annouced!

Anyone got info on this?, i thought they may grab the Eugene O'Neil but it looks like Sweenys going there (a bad choice as the London production was performed in small theatres which suited it)

YAY.....this IS a once-a-year-day!

Can't wait to see this show. Love the score.
But, I still maintain that they're going to lower every single one of Sid's songs for Harry Connick Jr. or possibly take out the money notes or interpolate them lower. He just ain't got that range, my friends. :)

Word. Word, indeed.

IF they lower the score, so what? Not everything has to be done in the original key it was performed or written in. Just becuase a key is lowered or changed at all doesn't make the performance or the performer less valid.

apdarcey - good lord, TALK ABOUT A LOWERED SCORE! They lowered that entire sucker just for her and she was far less than winning in the role. After seeing the original cast (on its one year anniversary and Sherie's final performance - what an electric show that was) - the Braxton version that I took a date too was SUCH A LET DOWN! Sooooo much better the first time around.

I know exactly - the date thought it was a beautiful show, and it still was - but they couldnt understand why I disliked Toni's dynamic so much. After seeing Headly...well, anyone else who saw both certainly understands.

I saw a video of Aida online through Limewire. It had Idina Menzel, some black lady who was really skinny and had some weird V-Shaped thing hanging down on her forehead. And this guy w/ black hair who was pretty buff. I didnt like what i saw. I thought the acting was very stiff. Not sure if thats how it was directed, but Idina never really moved. She just stood there and talked. I love her in Wicked, but not in this role.

Yeesh, munk, chill. I didn't say anything about "validity." I just hear John Raitt's powerful ringing high G's (hell, and his high Bb at the end of "There once was a man") and can't imagine them coming out of Connick's mouth. Don't get me wrong, I like him and think he'll bring that swagger and cool bravado that the role needs. I just hope the music is not toned down or made too relaxed for his crooning voice. Maybe it won't be. Maybe he has some untappped excitement in his bari voice that I haven't heard yet. That would be a welcome surprise since I LOVE this music. :)

So was Chitty just kidding then? Who is the co-star in the Pajama Game for real?
