I think the term comes from the old way this was accomplished in which paper tickets were given to associates or other groups of interest. Updated On: 2/25/08 at 03:52 PM

Papered tickets are not discounted tickets. They're comps.
Say during a critic week, the show isn't selling well. The producers give tickets to the papering organizations to have the house full.

Most people wont openly discuss what shows papering organizations have available because the more people who join, the less tickets there are for the long time members.

While that is true, it is against the rules of membership in any of the papering organizations to divulge what shows they have been offering. Members can get kicked out if the organization finds out you've been announcing what shows you've seen through them.
All papering organizations charge an annual fee, usually around $100, with small service charges on individual tickets.

I am well aware of this fact which is why I said that most people wont discuss it openly. Someone might be willing to since there is really no way for anyone to know who they really are. Regardless I was not willing to post the information and even in the PMs people have sent me I have refused to list show titles.
