Hi all,

Strange question. I am looking into purchasing tickets to see a show at the Armory but have never been to the venue. How does the seating work? I am pulling up seat numbers such as G56, H59, etc. I know their seating arrangements change from performance to performance but just as a general, proscenium looking setup (or so the seating chart makes it seem) I was wondering what seating was like here/any seating tips you can give. Also curious about the high seat numbers, as I have also pulled up D4.

Thanks in advance!

It is a giant drill hall that functions as a gigantic box into which anything imaginable can be installed (including, as has been the case, an exact replica of the RSC Stratford theatre). So without knowing what production, and how that production will fill the void, it is not possible to provide any meaningful guidance.

Well, as I said the show I am interested in seems to be a typical proscenium setup. But to be absolutely precise I am looking into The Hairy Ape in particular.

I look forward to your meaningful guidance Park Ave. Armory Seating

have you looked at the production photos from the Old Vic? assuming they don't majorly re-imagine, it looks like the show has a fluid stage area with set pieces (including a huge skeletal box) being flown in and out. Perhaps the reviews fill in more details about this, or someone who has seem it. In any event, I would not expect a proscenium from what I see, and I would expect that from the extreme side seats you are identifying you would at times be looking through the skeleton to some extent, during those scenes. One thing you CAN expect is plenty of rake. I note also that the seat numbers only go up to 56 on the seating chart-is 59 a typo? Finally, based on the angles I think I'd be inclined to go farther back. FWIW I have tickets in the center at row R.
