The high school of the performing arts celebrates its 60th anniversary, while another school that was part of the inspiration for "Fame" will be quietly sold to Hunter College.
The Julia Richmond building, the educational complex that housed Talent Unlimited, the school where "Leroy" was from will be sold to Hunter College in an hush hush deal with Hunter College, despite the fact that the school just won an architectural and design award and just went under a 20 million dollar renovation (also award winning) that was paid for with our tax dollars.
Talent Unlimited High School was originally created because the performing arts high schools would simply not accept minority students, eventually the other Performing Arts High Schools realized how exclusive things were and began to improve their admissions process. Talent Unlimited still stood as one of the greatest public performing arts schools in the country.
