any thoughts?

I'm hoping this continues until May. I would like to take all my friends to see it.

Okay, the $25 seats are just fine and dandy. More people will be able to see this beautifully-crafted piece. Hooooowever, the one th ing that has me "WTF?" is the whole 'texting and winning' crap. It makes me think the show is going to become this *huge* thing when really, it should stay low-key, keep with the 'chill-factor', y'know? I don't know. Reading *that part* had me think of LEGALLY BLONDE's marketing. Not a fan of the concept, but who cares, right? LoL
I think it's admirable that they're trying to get as many people as possible in to see this show since it's obvious it won't be running for a whole lot longer. More shows with limited futures should do the same.
The just think the marketing has been wrong from the start on this one one, which is a tough sell to begin with. I still haven't seen it despite being big on theatre, and I haven't felt the need to, which I think says something.
I'll be sure to catch it now though.
Awesome. More shows should be taking into account the recession and provide more accessible, lower price tickets. This is a very smart move.

Well it's great that they are trying something new to get people into their show. I did a search using the BroadwayBox discount for a couple of the days I'm there and pretty much every day gave me front row seats. So it's a shame that it's selling so poorly. I hope this increases their attedance and gets them great word of mouth.
Thanks for the post JayStar; at the theater we just started passing out these "inserts". I hope the patrons actually read them. Anyway, biz on the weekdays could be a lot better, but the weekends are almost always nearly sold out. People, when the economy sucks and the winter is still here, take advantage of the LOW ticket prices for PS. The word of mouth is selling the show more than anything else!
As for the new youth oriented marketing techniques, I say, try anything. The youth-60 market is loving PS, (and also families w/teenage kids!) and 99% of them DON't read this disc. board.
youre welcome....
BTW- Its Jaystarr..... or just Jay or J* or Jay*

Hi Jay, thanks for the support! I talked a little bit with D. Breaker last night, and he was absolutely lovely and humble, AND collecting for Bway/Cares....!
Daniel Breaker is a total sweetheart, immensely talented, and absolutely adorable!
I hope he gets a Tony Nomination.
I agree.
I got to talk a little to Colman Domingo after the matinee on Saturday, and he could not have been nicer.
I also agree, and I think there will be a few more noms for this!
The entire cast was mighty friendly when I spoke to them at the stage door as well.
Also, it's nice to see a cast so fully supportive of the material they're presenting. That, sadly, isn't always the case. Glad they're raising for BC/EFA for Easter Bonnet... and proud to donate in their name.
I was soo upset that I did not stagedoor on PASSING STRANGE bec. Chris always does not want to stage door.. he is not really a broadway guy like me... and it was very cold when I saw Passing Strange, so we decided just to home.

I hope more people decide to see this now. $25 is a steal.
Hm...I was counting on the "Youth Tickets" for this coming weekend... does this new policy mean less likelihood of availability on, say, a Saturday?

this is a good idea. I do hope other shows do this, especially the straight plays that don't sell as many tickets (although an August: Osage County ringtone might not be so nice). :P
(I may go to Wed's matinee)
MiracleExlir,
You shouldn't have any problem getting tickets. The show is far from selling out even though it is my favorite thing playing on Broadway. It's just an awesome show with power and emotion and makes you rock in your seat. Literally.
I think Passing Strange may not be in as much trouble as we think though because it is such a simple show in design. It couldn't cost much to run. I hope it's around for quite a bit longer!
Thanks, gottadance!
And yeah, I know the show is not doing so hot, but I'd heard it had already been doing MUCH better on the weekends than weekdays, and I thought this new policy might make availability a bit tougher.
Elixir, easy now, just don't wait till the Tony Awards...then it might not be so easy...
Oh, no, I'm definitely coming in and attempting on Saturday, so as long as there's availability, I'll be there!
