Here is the Playbill.com Article.

I am very much looking forward to hearing about how this progresses. What a fantastic cast!

<< Testing, Albert was HOT! I had a crush. Even in those dark drug years. I blame it all on Olivia's death!

Loved Little House.

re: Patrick Swayze and Melissa Gilbert as Ma and Pa in LITTLE HOUSE musical

I'm late with this thread and just read the news on another website. I am quite excited about this as The Wizard of Oz and Little House (books and TV series) were my two obsessions as a child (and Judy Garland and Melissa Gilbert were just absolute goddesses to me. Judy has retained the God-status with me, Gilbert not as much).

As has already been stated, Nellie is mentioned much more than just once in the books. The real Laura Ingalls Wilder has said that she didn't write Nellie half as mean as she really was. So I guess the TV series made up for that.

However, she does not show up in the Little House on the Prairie (the individual book) at all.

I would love to know where this musical is set since Laura lived in so many places growing up--Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, or the Dakota Territory (Nellie shows up in Minnesota and the Dakota Territory so maybe one of those?)

This is one workshop I would just die to attend.

Well, I just read that Almanzo is in it, so at least the last portion of it has to take place in the Dakota Territory.

Also, will this be musical theater or opera? I saw Rachel Portman's The Little Prince at NYCO and although there were definitely musical theater elements to the piece, it was quite operatic in the modern sense.

Ok, so i just saw this post and have to give my two cents.

I saw the workshop of this musical at NYSAF last summer and, while the music was beautiful, the book was a mess. It was in severe need of revision. Hopefully in the time between now and then something was improved. I expected much more from it.

VERY excited about this!

I loved the LITTLE HOUSE series of stories and have recently been introduced to the books of Caroline and some of the other family members. Reading them, and reconnecting with the feelings I had when I was young has been such a joy!

This makes me happy...

Patrick Swayze started on Broadway as a chorus boy. Check out his profile on IBDB, dear. He's also appeared in the West End.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
