I searched for this topic and didn't find anything, so I apologize in advance if it already exists.

Does anyone think Patrick Wilson could play Raoul in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway? He looks the part and has a classical legit Broadway voice. He sounded great in the film, so could he do it? If they put him in the part, it could be considered stunt casting, but he seems to have the chops to pull it off. Any thoughts?

I think he could but I doubt with the publicity he is getting (aka: BIG offers) he probably won't for a LONG time

And it would be so hard getting all that ageing make-up on and off eight times a week.

I dunno.. he's said in interviews he thinks he's too old to play Raoul on stage now, so that's why he was thrilled when the movie came around.

Or something like that.

I think he's trying to have a movie career now. I think it would be stupid for him to do a litle gig like playing Rhoul in Phantom ob stage right now or maybe at all.

Many Raoul's have done it over the last 15 years

Yeah, I think he could do it, but the role on stage is pretty thankless. There are bigger and better things he could be doing instead.

I'd enjoy that.... just so I can see him in a singing role on B'way again. He could do better, though.

I dunno.. yeah, he's making movie but he has also said he misses the stage (hence him possibly doing Barefoot in the Park next fall). :)

He's said numerous times that the stage is his home; he'll be back. re: Patrick Wilson on Broadway in POTO?

And I'll be ready and waiting at the Stage Door!

Emcee...we can ask him to sing a few bars for us when he signs our playbills!

If he's a good boy, I'll leave it unzipped so he can get some fresh air, LOL!

Is there a stiff fine in NYC for making a Broadway performer cry so hard he can't catch his breath to the point he proceeds to pass out?
