From a Playbill.com article:
"Patrick Wilson may star in the new Scott Elliott-directed production of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park, set for the 2005-06 Broadway season.
'If all the dates can be worked out,' Wilson told Playbill.com columnist Harry Haun, he'll play the Robert Redford role in the upcoming revival.
It would be the popular and busy Wilson's first Broadway assignment since 2002's Oklahoma! and the first Broadway play ever for the Full Monty veteran. Since Oklahoma!, Wilson has starred in such films as 'Angels in America,' 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'The Alamo.'
No official casting for the production has been announced."
I think Wilson would do a fantastic job in this role. I'm very excited that Scott Elliot is at the helm...his revival of "The Women" with the Roundabout was amazing. I do hope that Amanda Peet grabs the role of Corie like it was rumored a while ago. I guess only time will tell. But, it's about time this show was revived!

Patrick Wilson Hopes to Headline Broadway's Barefoot in the Park
well, beacon, i guess that answers your question!
*crosses fingers, toes, arms and legs that *The Man* will return to the Great White Way!!!*
Look, I have a pretzel for a friend.
This would be WAY cool. I wish he'd come back with a musical, but such is life. I'll take it.
I really need to live in NY. I really wanna see it when it opens...
*untwists so i can type*
such if life?
if you're going to make a typo, shouldn't it at least be "lofe?"
No, lofe is such a special term that it may ONLY be applied to me.
No generic terms, here.
Wow, is there a Neil Simon resurgence this upcoming season?
Sweet Charity
The Odd Couple
Barefoot in the Park
It's about time, too.
Then if that's the case someone needs to revive "Promises, Promises".
I would do it myself if I had the money and cast Jean Louisa Kelly as "Fran"
Amanda Peet has been mentioned severals times as well. I would love to see her do it.

Encores! did a fine version of PROMISES, PROMISES a while back (Martin Short and Christine Baranski). It was a fine production and there were rumors it was Broadway bound but it was found to be too sexist for modern times. Too bad, I was happily overlooking the flaws and enjoying the humor of the script and the lively score.
This would be so cool! I recently just saw the movie & loved it. I hope Patrick stars!
I saw that ENCORES production and it was phenomenal. I was hoping that it would have made the move to Broadway but to my disappointment it didn't.

Never having seen the original show or movie, I look forward to this production. Seeing the poster from the movie & the plot, it seems like it might make good material for a musical
Of course, Breakfast @ Tiffany's sounded like a good idea on paper.
I love the "BAREFOOT" movie poster!!!

call me really crazy, but i'd love to see Brittany Murphy as Corie. I think Corie is a little off the wall and Brittany certainly fits that! :) boy, she'd be a blast!

I loved the original Broadway production of PROMISES PROMISES. fabulous work by Bachrach and David and of course Michael Bennett. The supporting cast was magnificent as was its Tony awarded star Jerry Orbach. To this day, I think PROMISES, PROMISES with book by Neil Simon, is the singular funniest musical I have ever seen.

Blurb in Michael Musto's column in the Village Voice:
"Speaking of (Amanda) Peet, a talkinbroadway.com regular swears she (or maybe MICHELLE WILLIAMS) and PATRICK WILSON will be holding hands in a Barefoot in the Park revival."
So...the buzz is out there for our guy to do the play!

Call me when Patrick Wilson headlines Bareass.
Wonder who'll be playing the mother? Mildred Natwick is a very hard act to follow.
