Yeah Kevin Anderson didn't find out he wasn't going to Broadway until I think they announced the cast. I know they didn't tell him directly. I would have liked to see both Patti and Glenn.

I have to say watching Glenn on the Webber 50th birthday concert was a masterclass in acting. Is she a great singer? No. But for this I really didn't care. She really was enthralling. P

I love the ever consistent bi-weekly Sunset/Lupone post.

I agree, you can hear Close act through the score on the recording.
I saw Petula and thought her interpretation was cartoony.

I have several recordings of Sunset, and have to say Glenn, is my favorite. It is true she does not have an amazing voice, but her acting is superb.

I saw Patti Lupone as Norma Desmond in the original West End production and she was astonishing.

I also have to agree that Close's version was far suprior to Lupone's. Others have hit it on the head when they say you can feel her acting just from the music.

I prefer Patti on recording, but I don't dislike Glenn. Actually Elaine Paige's is really great as already said too! But I think the recording I like best is the L.A. one too, not only because of what was mentioned but because of the orchestrations sounding "tighter" & crisper or something, and of course because Judy Kuhn :)!

There are times when Glenn Close sounds like Margaret Thatcher on the recording.

As far as I'm concerned, Glenn Close was the best thing about that show. Actually, Hearn was excellent also. I saw it twice.
