with all this talk about her power house performence in can-can i think it is time for her to come back to broadway in a full scale broadway musical. what show or shows do you think would showcase her talent and would be a good vehical as her come back show??

hello dolly would be good, but if that were to happen they should redo the music like they did for the movie. i think the movies music is more up-bet.

pal joey
call me madam
to bad gypsy has already been revied this ould be the perfect show for her.

Dollypop turned to me on to Patti's site. Her "Ramblings" are a blast. She is one funny ballsy broad. If there is no place for her on Broadway, then how about a TV talk show?!

Clear Channel is interested in transferring Can-Can to Broadway...a lot will depend on Patti though.

It's time for a full scale revival of "A Little Night Music" with Patti as Desiree.

I think ENCORES should revive FOLLOW THE GIRLS with Patti Lupone as Bubbles LaMarr!

I don't much agree with any of these ideas for casting Patti. To me, she's got too much of a voice for Desiree -- a role that's really more poignant when played by a sexy, warmly funny actress who sings, not a belting Diva. The best use of her temperament and vocal chops was in ANYTHING GOES. I say, give the girl a new show that features a modern Reno Sweeney type of character. Enough revivals. But Lupone hasn't opened a musical since SUNSET, and she should build something new from the ground up.

You though the music in the movie version of TWHM was more upbeat than the stage version???????? WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON???? The orchestrations lacked any crispness and the tempos lagged. Now don't get me started on the tunes that were added to the film.......

Patti is all wrong for the role of Dolly Levi. She's much too earthy and there's no way that anyone would believe she hadn't had sex for "all these years". As a result, there's no need for her to lead a parade before it passes her by and there's no reason for her appearance at the Harmonia Gardens to "rejoin the human race".

I'd love Jerry Herman to write a musical especially for her. Perhaps something about a middle aged Italian woman who prepares great Italian food and is raising an adorable son on her own.

I think Patti would be wonderful in The Rink. Not sure that the show warrants a revival though. I too would love to see another role written for her.

Dollypop- who would you like to see play the role of Dolly?- besides Carol Channing...there are other women in the world who can play the role. I disagree with you completely that Patti couldn't play the role, because she is "earthy." She is an actress and an incredibly talented one at that. There is not one way to play a role. I can definetely see her in the role and know that this amazing actress could make me believe that she "hadn't had sex for all these years." The fact that Dolly hasn't had sex in all these years is not due to her lack of sex appeal, it is due to her the duty she feels to her dead husband. Patti is a great comedian...your gonna have to give me more reasons than she is too "earthy" and has too much sex appeal.

I'm actually listening to The Cradle Will Rock recording (Acting Company) with Patti right now. She's a wonder!

Yes, Dolly. Let Jerry write her a show. Her own Rink. I want one more outta Jer, and several more outta Pat.

Auggie27 - no offense, but have you heard her sing recently? She is no longer the "belting diva" (though she CAN)...she has mellowed and has much more control over her head tones, and a much prettier sound than she used to when she only belted...I love her and think she could do anything she puts her mind to. I so "Go Patti!"

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

I am going to be seeing her Coulda Woulda Shoulda show here on Friday in Baltimore, Maryland. Anyone ever see her do this show? And is it good?

The show is marvelous. She performs songs from her previous shows (maybe she'll add something from CAN-CAN), as well as songs from shows she wishes she'd done--like the "I Have A Love" duet from WEST SIDE STORY, which becomes hilarious in her hands!

I hope she finds time to sing some of the stuff from her Matters of the Heart. Like Back to Before. I will be loving every minute. I have always loved her.

Sorry to disappoint you, Jon, but you're not going to get anything from "Matters of the Heart" at this concert. I've seen it several times and that material never emerges.
