I would love to see Patti play Mamma Rose! I hope she can take Bernadette Peters' place after she leaves - that would be amazing!
But I love my girl Bernadette Peters! I'm so happy it has extended. I hate to see it close....
But my 4th time seeing BP in Gypsy will be Feb 25!! Can't wait :)

Do you know why there's "bad blood"???
Patti is utterly amazing. A friend introduced me to Patti's work about 15 years ago. She was a huge fan and it surely rubbed off on me.
I love her style and her flair. I even got a kick out of guest shot she did once on "Frazier" as his volatile Greek aunt whose son wanted to marry a street performer instead of a rich girl. What a presence! I can only imagine what it is like to witness her on stage, in person!

"Right now she prefers concerts and Encores-type productions because they allow her to spend more time at home."
I thought that LuPone was originally going to do the revival of Into the Woods but they couldn't come to terms on her salary or the Dodgers were only interested in producing the show if Vanessa Williams was in it.

That's too bad. I think a lot of people would love to see Patti play Mamma Rose.
If I didn't know she was Italian sure would have guessed Patti was Greek. Did she play that part in Frasier with an accent? I would have loved to have seen it!
Greeks and Italians are very similar in just about everything!

Yes. She had a wonderful Greek accent and was very colorful and flamboyant. A lot of yelling, etc. Her character was quite mercurial and really knocked Frazier and Niles for a loop with her changes in emotion. One minute gushing over them the next minute screaming about something.
Plus her husband, Martin's brother, was this quiet, unassuming guy who barely spoke two word. Go figure! LOL!

It sounds like she fit the role perfectly!
The one thing we Greeks do alot of is yelling! Even when we are not arguing!!
