Maybe not. I remember when she did her solo show in LA-the one that was recorded and released as "Patti LuPone Live"-sold out before the first performance. The cancellation line was around the block the night I saw it. She is an amazing concert performer. Enjoy!

I hope it does well... she's here for a whole week! This is Seattle... full-fledged tours are rarely here for more than one or two weeks..

Patti is still one of the most incredible performers I have had the pleasure of seeing live in concert. She is a superwoman. Enjoy!

Wow, what an amazing performance. It was great to see her sing B'way showtunes, but even more interesting her interpretation of pop/rock songs. "The Air That I Breathe" was so touching, and "Time After Time", sung as a parent, gave it a totally different meaning. I am so very glad I got the tickets.

As we left, we walked by the stage door, and my bf said he wanted to meet her. So we waited, and she was SO nice. She's so TINY. I just can't believe that voice comes out of her. She signed our tickets (ticketmaster PDF printouts, so they had our names on them).

Unfortunately, many, many people left during the first act and during intermission. I don't get it. She's an amazing performer, maybe it's not what you expected, but it was still an amazing evening. The good thing was that we moved from row U to row D. Patti LuPone was Awesome

Tico, I also was amazed of the people the left during intermission. And the place was only half full, MAYBE. The other thing, we won our tickets and were sitting in the subscriber area. No one around us was clapping. They were all old, but I don't know if they weren't clapping because it was a) too much work; b) they hate Patti LuPone; or c) they just don't clap because they're theatre snobs. Patti did get a nice standing ovation though.

bj, When were you there? Last night the second act seemed rather short, and she only did one encore. I was wondering if maybe she was a little "miffed" at the tepid audience response. It felt like we were practically the only ones responding to her last night.

Oh yeah, it was the same for me. She did every song that was listed in the program, but the second act seemed really short, and she also only did one encore. There was one song (SHattered Illusions) that she was BEGGING for reactions from the audience. Everyone there was totally stale except the few Patti Freaks up in the balcony. I was there on Tuesday. It'll probably be much more lively on Friday and Saturday nights. I actually got someone who turned around and glared at me for claping and "woo"ing. Thankfully he (and the rest of his non-clapping row) left at intermission.

Just have to say that I saw it in Portland last Sunday (both performances).... and she is AMAZING!! My fist time seeing her live, and all I can say is wow! I had pit seats (only $24) and yelled as loud as I could for her because the theater was quite empty. She was very nice at the stage door and I got her autograph even though it was raining. Patti Rocks!!!

Hers is one of the most powerful voices and presences we'll see in our lifetimes. But for various reasons, she's not always a crowd pleaser. And sometimes, like at the recent Sondheim concert, she miscalculates and does something awful. But when she is good, she is very very...

Bjivie--I have a friend who whoops and hollers for her as you do--and we often get stared at. But my friend's whoops and hollers are genuine, and they are deserved.

I saw matters of the heart in Cincinnati and wasn't impressed at all. I was thrilled to see a legend like Patti in concert, but her choice of material was HORRIBLE. She did everything from "Back to Before" to "Time After Time"---In true Patti fashion you couldn't understand a word she sang. Her comedic timing is great, but she doesn't do many comedic songs in this concert. Like I said, it was neat seeing her in person, but it was a LOOOOOOOONG concert to sleep...i mean sit through.

I have 2 fifth row tickets for the Sunday evening performance (4/17 6:30pm) that I would love to get rid of. I'll be in NYC and can't use them. Face value is $40.50 a pop. PM me if you're interested. Oh yeah, this is the Seattle show. Thanks.

I saw her in Portland last week and I loved it. The theater wasn't too full but I don't think anyone left at intermission. I got pit seats so I was right up front. This was my first time seeing her and I loved the whole thing. I'd heard about her horrible diction, but I could understand everything perfectly. Some people may be disappointed that it's not really a "theatrical" evening (like, say, Elaine Stritch At Liberty) but it is definitely enjoyable and it's always fun to see a real Broadway star live onstage.

I actually thought it was quite theatrical. At least moreso than I was expecting. I was just expecting a concert, but it had much more of a theme than I thought it would.

Yeah, what happened at the last Sondheim concert?

I believe that they are referring to the "Live From Lincoln Center" semi-staged production of PASSION, in which Patti gave an amazing performance as Fosca. Is there nothing this woman can't do?

I truly believe that Patti LuPone has the finest voice I have ever heard. I cannot listen to it without getting chills.

I agree. It's too bad she won't do Broadway musicals anymore. She recently said that she only does concert things and special events nowadays. She won't do a Broadway musical. But she did say that if one came up that would work for a 56 year old Italian woman with a big fat belt that she would consider.

Sadly, the last Broadway musical she did was ANYTHING GOES 18 years ago. She has starred in Broadway plays, including THE OLD NEIGHBORHOOD (in which she gave a brilliant performance), NOISES OFF!, and as Zoe Caldwell's replacement in MASTER CLASS.

I always wished that the producers of Gypsy would go through all the divas and cast them all to keep that show going. Patti LuPone. Betty Buckley. Carolee Carmello. Elaine Paige. Jennifer Holliday (haha). Judy Kaye. Nancy Opel.

Patti should be doing the Sweeney revival.
