Penny in Hairspray Movie Question

Hey folks,
I got called back for Penny when I went to the open call in NYC, and was cought off gard because I had went to audition for Tracy. I'm not skinny, but I not really Tracy weight. How would people feel about a curvier Penny? I'm not asking this because I think I'll get the part, but because they seem to be calling back untraditional Penny's. so yeah, CAn Penny be curvy?

Diana's pretty thin. Look at this picture.



This is NOT a curvy girl.

With Penny though, I don't see why it would be a problem or issue were "curvy" at all.

Diana isn't Kerry Butler thin though...she's got a large bust and makes the rest of her look small in comparison but I always remember thinking on Idol she was always wearing dresses that showed off a stomach...does it matter though? Not really I don't think.

Well it could have been of Harvey since he is in the Las Vegas version at the moment. I wish I could get to Vegas before he leaves I also I wish I could get to New York before Diana leaves O well life goes on...

it might have something to do with teh song you chose to sing.

did you sing good mornign baltimore? or some song that is kinda penny-like such as without love or mama im a big girl now?

if you sang a penny-like song, they might have gotten the feeling you were more that type and asked you to coem back so you can really TRY for that role.

It would obviously be bad casting if Penny was heavier than Tracy, but other than that, I don't think it would be a problem...

Apparently that's the first time she put on the wig and dress they've got her a new wig now.Also as far as a weight issue Diana was carrying puberty fat when she was a 16 year old.Now being an old lady of 18 she has slimmed down.I think she looks great.

Well, she also seemed to gain a ton of weight while she was on AI.

Yeah I kinda look like what Diana looked like when she was on idol...
When I auditioned I sang Good Morning Baltimore, so I doubt thesong choice had anything to do with it.
