Hey, I have to do a project for school and I need to know how some performer's prepare for their shows ie. vocal warm-ups, doing yoga etc. What do your favorite performers do before going on stage?

I know Idina does Yoga and then she does her vocal warm ups while sittig in a hot shower with the steam.

That's what I do - but without the yoga!

Most singers do vocal warm-ups. Some warm-ups include sirens, lip-trills, arpeggios, ect. Personally, I try to warm up every morning before I even do any talking whether I have to sing that particular day or not. I know an opera singer who eats a carb-filled meal like pasta before a performance to keep her energy up.

That's funny because I sing opera and I can't eat ANY type of large meal before a performance. I always feel like it impedes my diaphragm.
I show up an hour before my call to do scales and arias I feel comfortable with that don't stretch me too much. I only lightly touch the top of my range before a performance. I also always stretch after I do pushups to warm up the body, then situps to warm up the abs. And drink lots of water!! re: Performance Rituals

Word. Word, indeed.

It may be worth noting that Menzel does Bikram yoga, which is done in a 110 degree Fahrenheit room.

I've heard several performers say they do their vocal warmups in a cloud of steam.
