Performing a Broadway Song

Hey, guys. I have a dilemma. I've heard that if you live within 200 miles from Broadway you can't perform a song from it publically. I want to perform Satisfied from Hamilton at my high school talent show but I live within those miles away from Broadway. I also won't be personally making money off of the performance but my school is charging for admission (not sure if that part is important). Am I able to perform the song without risk?

I think you've been misinformed. Whoever told you that might have been thinking about the fact that it's difficult for professional theatres within a close proximity to NYC to get the rights to do a show that's currently running on Broadway, which is true. But a high school talent show, and you're doing one song? Don't worry about it and have fun.
