Peter Brooks' The Mahabharata#1

I have the DVD of this amazing play as well as the original script but I want to know if there's anyone on this board who saw this (in my opinion) amazing piece of theatre.

I didn't know there was a production of this. Is it the entire saga?

I just took a class on ancient India, so I'm a little too familiar with the Mahabharata. re: Peter Brooks' The Mahabharata

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I didn't know it was on DVD. I might have to check it out. I love Peter Brook. Did anyone see the production he did at Columbia a few years ago?

Well, SporkGoddess, the play was nine hours long but they cut the film down to about 5 1/2 hours and I haven't read the whole saga but I'm guessing that everything essential to the story was still there.

I did! The production at Barnard, right? I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I went with my directing class.

Yeah, Tierno Bokar. It was in French. They converted the gym into a theater. I am also obsessed with his Marat/Sade.

Oh, wait, I have seen this -- in an Asian philosophy class. Not the whole thing, though, and I didn't know Peter Brook had directed it.
