I didn't know there was a production of this. Is it the entire saga?
I just took a class on ancient India, so I'm a little too familiar with the Mahabharata.

Posted: 12/19/08 at 12:27pmI didn't know it was on DVD. I might have to check it out. I love Peter Brook. Did anyone see the production he did at Columbia a few years ago?

Posted: 12/19/08 at 12:39pmWell, SporkGoddess, the play was nine hours long but they cut the film down to about 5 1/2 hours and I haven't read the whole saga but I'm guessing that everything essential to the story was still there.

I did! The production at Barnard, right? I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I went with my directing class.

Oh, wait, I have seen this -- in an Asian philosophy class. Not the whole thing, though, and I didn't know Peter Brook had directed it.
