In Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, at the last scene jane gets older and she gets a daughter. I missed the show but I did see the DVD and they just used this fade. So if anyone knows, how was that done?

What exactly do you mean? How do they transition to that scene?

They stick a new wig and a long robe on Wendy to make her appear "motherly." Jane is usually played by one of the Indians/Lost Boys.

Oh, and you probably know this already, but it's Wendy who gets older. Jane is the daughter.

Oh! That's what you meant!

As far as I remember, there was a blackout, which began with the "You won't forget to come for me Peter. Please don't forget!" line. The stage blacked out and all you could see was the shadow of Peter at the window. The lights slowly came back up on the window, and Peter's entrance music was played again as he flew in the window. Wendy, now old, was seated in a rocking chair, sewing, I believe.

In the Ridgy revival, there was no shadow at the window, et al.

At Wendy's "You won't forget" line, the show curtain (which was the London skyline with the nursery window at center) fell. The phrase "many year years later..." was projected, and then the curtain rose again on the nursery with Jane in bed and Wendy (Grown-Up) at the window. For the Rigby stage version, Wendy (Grown-Up) is played by the actress who plays Mrs. Darling and Jane is played by the actress who plays one of the Lost Boyas (Tottles in the '97 revival, a Twin in the last revival.)

When I saw it, Jane was played by Wendy and another actress was the older Wendy.

Hey not to thread jack, but this has ALWAYS bothered me on the DVD-
When Wendy first meets Peter Pan, she is wearing his "kiss". This is clearly before the bit where he actually gives it to her! It must've been from another cut and it was forgotten about, but that always bothers me just to see it on a professionally filmed and produced production!
**End of rant**

As BG2 said, grown up Wendy was played by Mrs. Darling. However on the AE special, isn't grown up Wendy the same actress as Wendy? Or am I delusional.

no youre right singtopher, thats Elisa Sagardia. She plays Wendy and Grown Up Wendy in the A and E special but ive never seen it done on stage before like that. Mr.s Darling normally plays grown up wendy

The A&E filming is not an accurate portrayal of the 1997 revivel, which os one of the reasons that I found it hard to watch.

In the stage production, Mrs. Darling played the Grown Wendy. For the broadcast, Elisa Sagardia did play Wendy AND Grown Wendy on the DVD - which was filmed mostly without an audience, as though it were a tv production. Ms. Ribgy also used her daughters in the filmed version as ADDITIONAL cast members..

I have seen Wendy Grown played by a seperate actress, Mrs. Darling, AND Wendy in various productions.

She was good, very physical, but there are far better Peter's. Sandy Duncan is incredible and you can catch some great Pans on the regional circuit.
To be honest, a male in the role - in whichever version of the tale you see, if great.

Re: to the casting of Wendy-Grown and Jane, and Rigby's daughters in her production..

The revival opened in 1997 with Barbara McCulloh as Mrs. Darling, the mermaid, and Wendy Grown; Jane was played by Ailleen Quinn (yes, of Annie), who also played the lost boy Tootles. Quinn later left the show and was replaced in both roles by Hally McGehan. For the filming, Rigby wanted to involve MORE of her family, so they added a second Mermaid, played by her daughter, Kaitlin McCoy, and cast her other daughter, Theresa, as Jane with Elisa sagardia's role as Wendy expended to include Wendy Grown - presumeably so that Wendy Grown would be believeable as Wendy on film (if you note, they have her in heels to add heights there). Both were mere cameos, but still, accurate to the production. For the farewell tour in 2004, the retained the idea of the second Mermaid, played again by Kaitlin, who was now also a Pirate / Indian, with, as with the last tour, Mrs. Darling, a Mermaid, and Wendy Grown played by the same actress - Tracy Lore, and Jane again being played by Theresa, who now alos played Twin Two.
