I am really looking forward to the screen version of the novel. It comes out this Christmas and it looks to be a good one. All the grit, edge, and depth of the novel and play.
They just posted the trailer online at Upcoming Movies. I am looking forward to when they put it on the Dark Horizons website since they tend to have their trailers set to play on a larger screen.

That does look pretty good. If it succeeds, I'm sure that'll bring it back on stage again.

Rigby is set to tour in 2004. They might add a few new songs from what I hear. I wish somebody else would play it though. She has done it sooo many times.
I would like them to rework the musical to be closer to the play. They have done that a little, but the musical lacks sooo much of the substace there.

have you read the play or novel?? It id=s a lot darker and has a lot more grit and edge than most people know Peter Pan by -- the Disney film and the Mary Martin version of the musical.
I know- this version seems like a nightmare. A little scary. I am looking forward to seeing it though. It puts a twist on the traditional fairy tale. I really odn't care for seeing it onstage again.
Based on the trailer, the movie looks like it might be quite good.

Finally, someone telling the real story. I can't wait.
Speaking of the stage version, I saw B. D. Wong perform it a few years ago and it was very interesting. It didn't all work, but it was nice to see a male play the part. Might we suggest Clay Aiken for the revival?

I prefer it with a male. It adds a sense of reality to the cjaracter... the role is closer to the actor. ya know? There just seems to be more 'truth' to it.

I think the theory is that a young woman looks more convincing as a pre-pubescent (sp?) boy than a young man would.
If your actor is over 21... you're better off with a young woman.

I have seen it played by an actor in his mid twenties, and it didn't take away from it all. It worked just as well. I bought it completely that he was a twelve year old boy.

Does 50+ Cathy Rigby count as a "young woman"? They really need to find someone else.

What's the difference between Disney Peter Pan and the actual Peter Pan versions?
I remember looking at an off-broadway musical website called "Wendy The Musical". That was very dark and disturbing. Peter Pan accidently shoots Michael. Captain Hook is in love with Wendy and keeps her in jail. Then Captain Hook tries to show Wendy how much he loves her by conjuring up magic with a full moon to ressurect Michael from the grave. It doesn't work. Captain cries, Wendy feels sorry for him.
Like I said, it's very twisted.

The Disney versin is very watered down and very cheesy and has no depth. A lot of the plot points are different. Hook never captures Tink, the indians down capture the Lost Boys, Hook tries to poison Peter not blow him up etc, etc, etc.
lol. all fixed.

"HOOK TRIES TO POISON PETER NOT BLOW HIM"
...Hmmm...I think you may want to go back and re-read the original B'wayguy 2. Or did you mean "BLOW HIM UP?"

lol. sorry. typing while tired isn't good. LOL.I didn't mean to imply that Hook was a Catholic Priest. :) I was raised as a part-time Catholic (don't ask) so I can say that. :) Updated On: 6/21/03 at 07:09 AM

Hey, I'm an altar boy and I can proudly say not one of my hott priests have involuntarily blown me.

I knew Hook tried to poison Peter, then Tinkerbelle drank it, and we all clapped for her to come alive.
What else? I think I heard something about the Darlings adopting all the Lost Boys, and they grew up to be doctors and lawyers.

That's what Mr. Darling WANTED them to be.
I don't consider Disney's version to be "cheezy" or "without depth." Yes, major changes were made in the storyline. Can you show me a Disney film where major changes were [not] made in the storyline? But I could enjoy it and "Hook" with Robin Williams as well. And I'm hoping I'll enjoy this one as well.
(Of course I remember the "Wonderland" movie they made with Alice as an 80+ year old woman on a tour of America to promote Carroll's 100th anniversary... the "Wonderland" sequences were mega scary!)

I enjoyed Hook also, but then again I liked Patch Adams as well so I'll take pretty much anything with Robin Williams and will enjoy it.

LENSMAN, the film you are refering to is called DREAMCHILD and stars Ian Holm as Carroll and the amazing Coral (Vera Charles) Brown as the aging Alice. I highly recommend this film to anyone interested in Alice/Carroll or Coral!
