There are clips from actual performances of both the original London cast and the 2004 London cast and a clip or two of Hal Prince directing Michael and Sarah during a rehearsal.
There are also clips of the music videos that accompanied "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Music of the Night" and "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" when they were released as pop singles in the UK.

Speaking of pre-recorded singing in live Broadway shows...
Does anyone know exactly how much of (and where) Brooklyn is pre-recorded?
I was sitting in the first row - and besides Eden's whooping cough the night I saw it when she wasnt speaking/singing - it was clear that she was not actually singing some higher sections of songs.
Anyone KNOW KNOW - like...KNOW? As in - not speculation.

1) Yes, the vocalise at the end of "POTO" is pre-recorded. The orchestra is playing along to that techno track. I was part of the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber tour and witnessed all of this. our singer sang everything live until the end. They also used a separate track if her understudy went on.
2) "Think of Me" now has the standard modulation from D major to F major. So now the high note of the cadenza is a "C".

Really? Why did they do that?

I know that this has nothing to do with the original post, but since we're on the subjsct of The Phantom; I just rented and watched the new phantom movie for the first time this weekend, and I had a question - do you think that their pick for the Phantom was based on his weeker vocals?
(I was a little dissapointed - but a couple people I talked to thought that he was picked because he was not a fine-tuned vocalist)
Either way - I was totally side-tracked from the message of the song when the Phantom took a breath in the middle of the word "lo(breath)ve"

Curious 'fact article' there linked on an earlier post... He didn't mention where he/she got those facts from.
Makes me wonder that if the Phantom's vocals in 'Notes' in act one are prerecorded, then why does not the manager reading the letter (and his voice fading) never get the his words and lip-sync right with the Phantom's voice? You'd think that if he does it 8 times a week, week after week after week, he'd learn to do it right.
I personally don't believe that the stunt-double Christine & Phantom leave the travelator in the middle of the descent, I believe the 'real' Phantom & Christine appear on stage first time on the boat. I've seen the show several times with the 'fake pair' never leaving /disappearing from the travelator until they reach the bottom and the lights dim and the candles rise.

I love the Special Features more than the movie lol.
And there are promos from the ORIGINAL POTO movie with Crawford and Brightman that was never made...
