hello all... well i am here in new york.... dang it's hot and humid and gross... but i can deal with it... so i had time yesterday and decided to see phantom... just so i can say i saw it on broadway... i thought it was good... Rebecca Pitcher whom i saw years ago on tour sounded better but still strained... michael shawn lewis was a decent raoul... i've seen better.. and howard mcgillin... intersting... although i wasn't impressed with him right from the beginning... his phantom was wonderful... probably the best acted phantom i've ever seen... his final lair scene was excrutiatingly heart wrenching and he sealed it there for me on why this guy has been playing it for so long... which made me wonder... this guy proves that a person can play a role for so long and still bring a freshness to it.. while people like steve blanchard who i saw last year in BATB was just sleepwalking through the role... what gives? but i digress... tonight i'm off to see Tarzan!!!! then four more shows to see in a week!
btw... I LOVE NEW YORK!
I agree, Howard McGillin is fantastic in the role.
Good luck with that TARZAN thing...it's a train wreck.
